The 54th Regiment of Massachusetts was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. It was the first military unit consisting of Black soldiers to be raised in the North during the Civil War. The regiment was authorized by the Emancipation Proclamation and consisted of African-American enlisted men commanded by white officers.
The National African American Gun Association (NAAGA) is an organization that promotes gun rights among African-Americans in the United States. It was founded by Phillip Smith in 2015 in honor of Black History Month. The goal of the organization is to educate African-Americans on gun usage and ownership, and to establish a fellowship by educating on the rich legacy of gun ownership by African Americans, offering training that supports safe gun usage, and advocating for the Second Amendment. NAAGA has over 45,000 members and more than 75 chapters in the United States.
